Brenk Johnson serves as General Counsel for SoftLayer Technologies, Inc. He began representing SoftLayer as outside counsel in 2006 and joined the company as in-house counsel in November 2010. Before joining SoftLayer, Brenk spent 15 years in private practice with national and regional law firms in Dallas, Texas.

While in private practice, Brenk represented large and mid-sized companies in Federal and state trial courts throughout the State of Texas, as well as more than a dozen appeals to the Fifth and Seventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, the Texas Courts of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

Brenk became Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 200l. He was named a “Rising Star” in the area of Labor and Employment Law by Texas Monthly magazine in 2003, 2004 and 2005, and was selected as a “Super Lawyer” by his peers in 2007, 2009 and 2010. He also served as Vice Chair of the Labor and Employment Section of the American Bar Association-Young Lawyers Division in 2000 and 2001 and served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers from 1998 through 2003.

Brenk graduated from Duke University in 1989 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. He then graduated from the SMU School of Law in 1993. He lives in Dallas with his wife, Amanda, and their two kids, Beck and Wyatt.
